Unfortunately that's football these days. To compete at the higher levels you're gonna have to be prepared to run at a loss. But then most of the football league and premier league run at a loss and don't get promoted so by that Stockport are well run as are Wrexham.

They are only “ well run “ because they chucked cash at it and invested. Wrexham were a basket case until the film star turned up. A club in debt can also be extremely well run, they need to be for sure . County’s owner added an additional £8m on top of his initial purchase costs to buy the club, to invest in players and that was two seasons ago.
Is our owner going to do the same?

    County press release
    said:

“It has always been Mark’s plan to make sure the money he put into the Club was GIFTED and did not want to burden the Club with long-term loans. This puts the Club in a strong financial position and for this, we are very grateful. His investment both on and off the pitch has been vital to securing promotion to League 2 and we hope to capitalise on this momentum as we look to climb the leagues”.

Chapman has been quite a disappointment hasn’t he? Seeing as he played in one of the best England youth teams of recent times

    Just gone. Into the abyss.

Of the other kids - I think Wadsworth and Jeffreys will get 1 year deals.

Coming from Boro and Blackburn, I bet he is on a decent wage at City. Should free up a nice bit of money for someone else.

In a football sense, not in a commercial sense. The owner “ gifting” and commercial activities are supporting the football side ie transfers , signing on fees, high agents fees and wages. Which on moderate crowd size has to be loss making. MKD are the same.

But United, Tiktok, Expedia etc all sponsor them. They turn over £10m.

Just because it's sponsorship doesn't mean it's a loss. Those sponsors on the face of it are odd, but the fact they get put into the extremely successful documentary means it's worth it for them.

I'd bet they don't make any losses. I'd like to see their accounts though.

Edit: here we go, from Wrexham site:

In the season where promotion was achieved by both the Men’s and Women’s senior teams, Turnover for the year was £10.478m (2022: £5.972m) with the loss increasing to £5.113m (2022: £2.913m).

Income was increased across the board, with the most significant with our retail operation reaching £3.430m (2022: £1.303m) and Sponsorship / Advertising rising to £1.883m (2022: £1.053m). The increase in Football revenue £1.314m (2022: £0.531m) can be attributed to our success in the FA Cup.

The payroll of the Club increased to £6.9058m (2022: £4.050m).

The amount owed to The R.R. McReynolds Company, LLC at the year-end was £8.977m (2022: £3.714m).

The financial losses suffered by the Club since the takeover shouldn’t be repeated, with income generated by the Club now sufficient to meet the operational costs of the Club going forward.

Was rumoured over the weekend but seems likely now. Link was to Hartlepool, team he supports and is from that way but today he's put a picture of him arriving at Hartlepool station on instagram and tagged his agent on it.

Hopefully the kick on he needs. The way that lad has dropped off is weird, as this season when he did play he didn't look bad, just never got going. Ben Whitfield is a free agent, local lad and used to the narrow wide man/drifting 10 role we have in the system.

I felt for him last season being pushed into the number 10 role to cover for Walker as he's not a number 10. When he has played on the wing he's looked a threat especially the back end of last season before he got injured. For him he needs to go to a club which will play him as a winger and try to stop the decline or he could soon by playing at BPA level. I was speaking to someone I know who is a scout at a club in our division about Chapman and his agent was actively looking for a club in January but this club said no to him partly down to the lack of game time he had and also they had heard that he was a bit lazy on the training pitch which could explain why he has fallen like he has.

No, he was just spending his day taking pictures of train station signs, which he does in his spare time. Got a right collection with Bentham being his proudest one to date. Apparently.
